Westchester Knicks Announce Coaching Staff Additions
October 23, 2017 - NBA G League (G League)
Westchester Knicks News Release
NY - The Westchester Knicks, the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knickerbockers, announced today additions to the coaching staff for the 2017-18 season, naming Ross McMains and Keith Bogans as assistant coaches.
McMains joins the Westchester Knicks from the Santa Cruz Warriors, the Golden State Warriors' affiliate, where he spent the 2016-17 season as an assistant coach. He began his front office career as a special assistant with the Sacramento Kings in 2012-13, where he specialized in player development. He spent the following two seasons as an assistant coach with Sacramento's NBA G League affiliate, the Reno Bighorns, before heading overseas to his home country of New Zealand, where he served as the head coach of the Taranaki Mountain Airs and as an assistant coach of the New Zealand Men's National Team.
Bogans, a veteran of 11 seasons in the NBA with eight organizations (Orlando Magic, Charlotte Bobcats, Houston Rockets, Milwaukee Bucks, San Antonio Spurs, Chicago Bulls, New Jersey/Brooklyn Nets, and Boston Celtics), joins Westchester through the NBA's Assistant Coaches Apprentice Program. The Assistant Coaches Program (ACP) began in 1988 and has had over 150 former NBA participants. The program provides former NBA players the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in coaching while exploring other areas of the basketball front offices. A four-year starter for the Kentucky Wildcats, Bogans was selected in the second round (43rd overall) in the 2003 NBA Draft by Milwaukee before being traded to Orlando. He appeared in seven games for Westchester during the 2015-16 season before ending his playing career due to injury.
Westchester Knicks basketball returns to the Westchester County Center on Friday, Nov. 10 at 7:00 p.m. as the team hosts the Grand Rapids Drive, the Detroit Pistons' affiliate. The team will open the 2017-18 on the road, facing the Windy City Bulls, the Chicago Bulls' affiliate, on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 8:00 p.m. ET.
