Mobile, Ala. – The Mobile BayBears let a win slip by, Thursday night, against West Tenn. The BayBears held a 4-1 lead entering the eighth and a 5-3 lead in the ninth, but the Diamond Jaxx came all the way back, winning 6-5. The loss was the third straight for the BayBears against West Tenn and fifth straight overall.

Mobile reliever Alan Webb gave up a two-run homerun to Donny Leon in the top of the eighth inning trimming the lead to 4-3. After Khalil Greene got one run back in the bottom half of the frame on his third homer of the season, West Tenn rallied for three runs in the top of the ninth.

The first four Diamond Jaxx batters reached against BayBears' closer Rusty Tucker. Casey Kopitzke drove in one on a bases-loaded walk, to cut the lead to 5-4. Then, after Tucker (0-1) struck out the next two hitters, Nick Ortiz drove in the tying and go-ahead runs on a two-strike double just inside the right field line. The blown save was the first of the season by Tucker.

The Diamond Jaxx comeback erased a great outing by Mobile starting pitcher, Cory Stewart. The left-hander threw six innings giving up just one run on three hits, while striking out eight.

Rico Washington and Todd Donovan each had solid nights at the plate for Mobile. Washington had three hits, including a double with an RBI and Donovan went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
