
Huntsville Continues Surge with Doubleheader Sweep

Chattanooga, TN â Huntsville is officially on a roll. The first-place Stars swept a doubleheader from the Lookouts on Thursday night at Bell South Park, pushing their record to a season-best 20-12. Huntsville romped to victory in the first game, 5-0, then rallied for a 6-2 win in the nightcap.
Starter Pedro Liriano dominated game one, authoring five scoreless innings while the Stars staked him to a 5-0 lead. Corey Hart doubled and singled to drive in two runs, bringing his total to nine in the series, and Dave Krynzel singled, walked twice, drove in one run and scored twice. Ryan Knox slammed his second homer of the season, a solo shot, and the Stars added another run on pitcher Josh Hall's throwing error.
In game two, Huntsville lefty Derek Lee provided five strong innings, allowing only one run on a wild pitch in the fifth, then the Stars exploded for six runs in the sixth with the help of two Lookouts errors. Chris Barnwell's squeeze bunt drove in Ryan Gripp with the tying run, and Brandon Gemoll delivered a pinch-hit, run-scoring double. Krynzel added a single to drive in another, Richard Paz walked to force in the fourth run. Finally, Chris Cosbey and Krunzel scored when Hart's sharp ground ball scooted third baseman Santiago Perez's legs at third for an error.
Liriano (3-3) notched his third win game one, permitting just three hits and one walk with four strikeouts over five shutout innings, and Lee (4-0) grabbed his fourth straight win in game two, surrendering one run on five hits and two walks while fanning four in five frames. Hall (1-4) took the loss in the first game, giving up five runs, four earned, on four hits and four walks in 4 2/3 innings. Lookouts reliever Scott Dunn (1-2) suffered the loss in the nightcap, allowing six runs, three earned, on three hits and three walks in 1/3 inning.
