Jackson, TN (June 10)- The West Tenn Diamond Jaxx moved to eleven games over .500 on Saturday night as the Diamond Jaxx defeated the Birmingham Barons 5-2 at Pringles Park.

Chris Shaver pitched seven solid innings to pick up his third win of the season. Shaver (3-4) allowed two runs on four hits with one walk and one strikeout. Clay Rapada pitched two perfect innings to notch his Southern League leading nineteenth save of the season.

After spotting the Barons a 1-0 lead, the Diamond Jaxx pushed across three runs in the fifth inning off Corwin Malone (5-5) to take a 3-1 lead. With runners at first and third and one out, Chris Walker hit a groundball to short. The Barons got the force at second, but Walker beat the relay throw, scoring Miguel Negron to tie the game at one. After Walker stole second base, Eric Patterson hit a double to left-center field to drive in Walker with the Diamond Jaxx second run of the inning. The Diamond Jaxx made it 3-1 on a double to right by Nic Jackson.

Brandon Sing led off the bottom of the sixth inning with a solo homer over the left field wall, giving the Diamond Jaxx a 4-1 lead.

Birmingham made it 4-2 in the seventh on a RBI groundout by Micah Schnurstein. The Diamond Jaxx closed the scoring in the eighth inning when Miguel Negron hit a one out triple and scored on a sacrifice fly by Tony Richie.

The rubber game of the five game series takes place on Sunday afternoon at 1:05 CDT. RHP Randy Wells (3-2 1.12) gets the start for the Diamond Jaxx.
