Wenatchee Takes Game Two in Sloppy Contest

Wenatchee, Wa- The Sweets were handed their seventh straight loss on Wednesday night in a 5-3 loss to Wenatchee. The Applesox (23-27) were gifted four unearned runs by Walla Walla (21-28).

The Sweets jumped on top early with a run in the first on an RBI ground-out by Nick Halamandaris that scored Myles Hager. They added another run in the third with an RBI single by Clayton Ayers that scored Hager again.

Walla Walla took that 2-0 lead into the fourth and that was when the Applesox would fight back. They scored one earned run on a wild-pitch, but added two more on a fielding error with two-outs. That made the score 3-2 Wenatchee.

The Sweets tied it up at 3-3 in the sixth on an RBI ground-out by Alex McKenna that scored Jon Hechtner, but Wenatchee would take the lead for good in the bottom half of the frame. They scored two more unearned runs on another fielding error with two-outs in the inning by the Sweets to take the score to 5-3 Applesox and that is where it would remain.

The two teams with match-up again tomorrow in a season series deciding game at 7:05pm. The Sweets will send All-Star Micah Gorman to the mound and try to salvage a game in the series.
