
Weekly Update: Red-And-White Play First Game On The Road At Houston This Saturday

CHIVAS USA TRAVELS TO HOUSTON LOOKING FOR SECOND STRAIGHT WIN: A week after capturing the team's first victory of 2010, Chivas USA hits the road for the first time this season, facing the Houston Dynamo at Robertson Stadium in Houston on Saturday, April 17, at 1:00 p.m. PT (3:00 p.m. CT). The Red-and-White just topped the New York Red Bulls by a 2-0 score this past Saturday, with midfielder Jesús Padilla scoring one goal and forcing another, bringing the team's record to 1-2-0 (W-L-T) this season. Meanwhile, Houston has a 1-1-1 record and is coming off a 2-0 home loss to the LA Galaxy. The match will be broadcast live nationally in Spanish on TeleFutura, and local coverage will be on Prime Ticket starting at 1:00 p.m. PT. W Radio 690 AM will also carry the match.
RED-AND-WHITE WILL RETURN HOME TO FACE SAN JOSE ON SATURDAY, APRIL 24: After this weekend's match at the Houston Dynamo, Chivas USA will return home on Saturday, April 24, when the team faces the San Jose Earthquakes at 7:30 p.m. PT. The match against the Earthquakes will take place on 'Salvadoran Night' at The Home Depot Center, and will celebrate Chivas USA's Salvadoran midfielder Osael Romero, as well as San Jose players Ramón Sanchez and Arturo Ãlvarez, who are teammates of Romero's on the El Salvador National Team. A special Family Pack is also available for the match, giving fans 4 tickets, 4 hats, and 4 hot dogs, all for just $58. 'MARCH TO THE MATCH' WITH BAND OF THE GAME AND FANS STARTS AT 11:30 ON SATURDAY, APRIL 24: A new tradition has hit The Home Depot Center in 2010, with Chivas USA fans, the Union Ultras supporters group, and the Band of the Game (Santee Falcon Marching Band this week), all gathering for the 'March to the Match.' With everyone making noise and getting ready for the match, all fans are encouraged to join the group when it leaves from Lot 11 at 6:30 p.m. PT on Saturday, April 24, continuing this new event which will occur prior to every home match the Red-and-White play. HEAD COACH MARTÃN VÃSQUEZ EARNS FIRST CAREER VICTORY WITH 2-0 WIN OVER NEW YORK: Chivas USA Head Coach MartÃn Vásquez, hired in December to lead the Red-and-White, earned his first career victory with the team's 2-0 win over the New York Red Bulls on Saturday, April 10 at The Home Depot Center. After a scoreless first half, Jesús Padilla helped give Chivas USA the lead when his shot was knocked into the net by New York goalkeeper Bouna Coundoul for an own goal. Padilla later iced the match when he scored his first goal of the season in stoppage time, and Zach Thornton earned the shutout in the net for the Red-and-White. Central defender DarÃo Delgado made his MLS debut and the Red-and-White improved their record to 1-2-0 on the season. Chivas USA players Ante Jazic (minor right knee sprain) and Maykel Galindo (left lower leg injury), who left the game due to injuries, are being reevaluated on Monday and more will be known about their status on Tuesday.
'ARMED FORCES NIGHT' ON MAY 8 AT THE HOME DEPOT CENTER: Chivas USA is planning a special celebration for the May 8 match between the Red-and-White and the Houston Dynamo on May 8 at The Home Depot Center, with 'Armed Forces Night'. With celebrations planned throughout the night, including special uniforms to debut during the game, Chivas USA will be recognizing all the members of the United States
'CHIVAS AT THE PARK' CONTINUES THIS SATURDAY, APRIL 17 AT RIO DE LOS ANGELES: Chivas USA has kicked off the popular 'Chivas at the Park' program, and will continue the series of soccer clinics taking place in various parks throughout Los Angeles with a session this Saturday at Rio de Los Angeles at 1900 San Fernando Road in Los Angeles. The clinics, which offer participating boys and girls ages 5-15 the opportunity to learn soccer techniques and practice drills that highlight teamwork in an environment that promotes the importance of fitness for the entire family, cost just $5 and include 90 minutes of soccer instruction, a Chivas at the Park t-shirt, and a certificate of completion. CHIVAS USA U-18 TEAM CONTINUES RUN WITH 5-0 WIN OVER NOMADS SC: The Chivas USA U-18 Team continued its excellent form with a commanding 5-0 victory over Nomads SC this past Saturday in San Diego. The team now has four wins and a tie in its last five games, and have scored 24 goals in those five matches. The U-18's are now in second place in the SoCal Division of the Development Academy's West Conference with a 6-4-0 record. The Chivas USA U-16's dropped a tough 3-2 result against Nomads, but also remain second in their division, holding a 4-4-2 record. CHIVAS DE GUADALAJARA WITH THREE GAMES LEFT BEFORE PLAYOFFS: Chivas de Guadalajara remains in first place in the Mexican First Division standings with three matches left in the Bicentenario 2010 standings ahead of the playoffs. The team has a record of 10-3-1 (W-L-T) after losing 3-0 to Morelia this weekend, and Guadalajara is tied for first place overall with Monterrey.
