RAPIDS VISIT SPORTING KANSAS CITY IN FOURTH ROUND OF U.S. OPEN CUP: The Colorado Rapids face Sporting Kansas City at 6:30 p.m. MT on Tuesday, June 5 at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park in the fourth round of the 99th Edition of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. The Rapids defeated the Tampa Bay Rowdies 3-1 last Tuesday to advance, while Sporting eliminated Orlando City SC in Kansas with a 3-2 win last week. RAPIDS COULD HOST OPEN CUP GAME ON JUNE 26: If the Colorado Rapids win their fourth round game against Sporting Kansas City tomorrow night, they would host a Quarterfinal match of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup at Dick's Sporting Goods Park on Tuesday, June 26 at 7 p.m. MT. The Rapids would play either the Michigan Bucks, a PDL team, or the Dayton Dutch Lions of the USL, who face off tomorrow night at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. RAPIDS WOMEN FACE SEATTLE SOUNDERS WOMEN AFTER UNDEFEATED WEEKEND: The Colorado Rapids Women face the Seattle Sounders Women tonight at 8:30 p.m. MT at Starfire Sports Complex in W-League action. The game, highlighted by U.S. Women's National Team players Hope Solo, Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe who will leave for the 2012 Summer Olympics tomorrow, will be streamed live and can be viewed by clicking here. The Rapids were undefeated in their two matches this weekend, having tied Vancouver Whitecaps FC Women 1-1 on Friday, June 1 and defeating Victoria Highlanders FC yesterday 1-0, with the game winning goal coming from defender Lynnsey Janes. TICKETS TO SWANSEA CITY FRIENDLY ON SALE : Tickets to the July 24 matchup between Colorado Rapids and English Premier League side Swansea City are on sale starting at $22, and a special two-pack offer with the September 5 game against the Portland Timbers is available for $40. The Swans finished their 2011-12 Premier League season with an impressive 1-0 victory over 8th place Liverpool to give them a 12-15-11 record, good for 11th in the table. RAPIDS NEXT REGULAR SEASON MATCH ON JUNE 16: With a three week break in regular season action, the Colorado Rapids' next MLS match will be on June 16 when they visit Vancouver Whitecaps FC at BC Place for a 5:00 p.m. MT game. The Rapids are currently 6-6-1 and came from behind while playing down a man to defeat the Montreal Impact in their most recent MLS game on Saturday, May 26. The Whitecaps match will be broadcast live on Altitude, Mile High Sports Radio (93.7 FM, 1510 AM) and ESPN Deportes Radio (87.7 FM). RAPIDS DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY TEAMS CLOSE REGULAR SEASON TOMORROW: The Colorado Rapids Under-18 and U-16 Academy Teams will play their final game of the 2011-12 U.S. Soccer Development Academy (USDA) season tomorrow night against St. Louis Scott Gallagher Metro at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. The U-18s tied St. Louis Scott Gallagher Missouri 1-1 on Saturday, while the U-16s defeated them 2-1. T he U-18s are currently in a qualifying position for the playoffs, but are waiting on results from other teams to clinch a spot in the USDA 2012 Finals Week, a playoff tournament where only the top two teams from each conference participate, that will be held in Houston, Texas from July 16-23. The U-16s are out of playoff contention and will participate in the Showcase held simultaneously in Houston.
