Chicago Fire FC News Release
CHICAGO - Chicago Fire FC will face a Western Conference foe for the second-consecutive match when the team travels to face the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday, July 23 at BC Place. The match against Vancouver is set to kickoff at 9:00 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on WGN and CF97 Live and transmitted locally in Spanish on TUDN 1200AM.
It will be just the 12th encounter between the two sides, with the Fire looking for their first victory in Vancouver. The last encounter took place at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in 2020, in which Vancouver won 2-0 during the MLS is Back Tournament.
Chicago (6-10-5, 23 points) are looking for a third-straight victory after closing out a three-game homestand with two consecutive wins. The Fire is just three points away from the playoff line after earning six points from three games in eight days. Most recently, captain Rafael Czichos scored his second MLS goal of the season in the 1-0 win against the Seattle Sounders FC on Saturday, July 16, at Soldier Field.
Vancouver (7-9-4, 25 points) faces off against the Portland Timbers tonight at 9:30 p.m. CT in the Cascadia Rivalry in Providence Park. Vanni Sartini's squad will be with newly signed wingback Julian Gressle, who was acquired from D.C. United on Friday. The Whitecaps are coming off a 2-2 tie against FC Cincinnati on Wednesday, July 13, at TQL Stadium.
