
Weekly Update: Chicago Fire FC to Host FC Cincinnati, Celebrate Polish Heritage Night on Saturday at Soldier Field

CHICAGO - Chicago Fire FC will return to Soldier Field on Saturday, May 14 to host FC Cincinnati in the first meeting between the two teams this season. Beginning at 7:00 p.m. CT, Saturday's match will be broadcast live on WGN-TV, CF97 Live and transmitted in Spanish on TUDN 1200 AM.
Tickets to attend the match are currently available for purchase here. The Fire will celebrate Polish heritage all throughout matchday, including a national anthem performance by Natalia Kawalec . Additionally, Burnham Downs will be highlighted by Polish food, trivia, and prizes and the first 100 fans to enter Burnham Downs will also receive a free Polish-themed cupcake.
The Fire (2-4-4, 10 points) return to its home stadium along the lakefront after suffering its third straight defeat in league play, falling 4-1 to Atlanta United FC at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday. Forward Chinonso Offor scored the lone goal for the Fire, finishing off a precise pass from Designated Player Xherdan Shaqiri to notch his first of the season and second career goal for the Club.
Saturday's match will mark the seventh all-time regular season meeting between Chicago and FC Cincinnati. In 2021, each team won their respective away match in the head-to-head series, with Chicago's thrilling 4-3 comeback win on Oct. 20 serving as the most recent fixture. Overall, the two teams have split the regular season series evenly with a 2-2-2 record.
Sitting in fifth place in the Eastern Conference, Cincinnati (5-5-1, 16 points) enters the matchup on a three-game winning streak in league play. Additionally, Cincinnati has managed to hold its opponents scoreless in its last two matches, defeating Toronto FC 2-0 and Minnesota United FC 1-0. Forward Brandon Vázquez leads the team in scoring with six goals in 10 games (nine starts).
