October 23, 2019 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Chicago Steel News Release
GENEVA, ILLINOIS - The Steel take their 5-2-1-0 (11 pts) record on the road this weekend for a back-to-back set against a non-conference opponent, the Fargo Force (3-1-1-0, 7 pts). Last season, the Steel took both games against Fargo when the teams collided at Fox Valley Ice Arena in January 2019.
The Force are led by forward Lynden Breen. The University of Maine commit has tallied five goals and an assist through five games in his first season for the Force. A year ago, the Grand Bay-Westfield, New Brunswick, native charted 37 points (12G, 25A) for the Central Illinois Flying Aces.
In net for Fargo, Cole Brady has seen the bulk of the action thus far in the young season after he was selected in the fifth round (127th overall) of the 2019 NHL Draft by the New Jersey Devils. Committed to Arizona State University, the 6-foot-5 netminder has posted a 3-1-1-0 mark with a 2.94 goals-against average and an .899 save percentage with the Force.
Chicago looks to rebound from last weekend in which it earned one of a possible four points, falling 5-3 to the Muskegon Lumberjacks on Friday and dropping a 5-4 overtime contest against Team USA the following evening.
The Steel are led by forward Matty De St. Phalle and defenseman Owen Power who both have lengthy point streaks coming into Friday's game. De St. Phalle has scored in every contest except the season-opener against Sioux City, totaling 11 points (6G, 5A) over his seven-game streak. Power leads league defensemen with 10 points (1G, 9A) this season, including four straight outings with at least one helper.
The Steel return home on Friday, Nov. 1 for a clash against the Youngstown Phantoms, a game that includes Second Chance Halloween with Candy Exchange for all kids in attendance.
Saturday Nov. 2, the Waterloo Black Hawks come to town for The Simpsons on Ice, presented by The Entrepreneur's Source and the first of six Topgolf Family Pack games for the season, a deal that offers four tickets, four hot dogs, four sodas, four chuck-a-pucks plus four Topgolf seat cushions and four $10 Topgolf play cards starting at just $48. Following the game, fans are invited to the first of five Skate With the Steel games of the season, a chance for fans to take the ice with their favorite Steel players.
