ICE CHIPS: The KOOTENAY ICE enter this week's action with a 6-16-2-0 record (5-6-2-0 at home, 1-10-0-0 on the road, 3-2 in overtime, 0-0 in shootouts) and in sixth place in the CENTRAL DIVISION...KOOTENAY, who have won back to back games, will play the next three contests versus CENTRAL DIVISION opponents beginning November 25 against the RED DEER REBELS.
COLLEGE NIGHTS: COLLEGE OF THE ROCKIES students can take advantage of discounted ticket and concession packages at select KOOTENAY ICE home games with COLLEGE NIGHTS...Prices range from $12.00 for a game ticket to $20.00 for a ticket and meal combo...The next COLLEGE NIGHT is Saturday, November 28 when the ICE host LETHBRIDGE...For more information or to purchase tickets, contact the CAMPUS LIFE DEPARTMENT at the COLLEGE OF THE ROCKIES.
A&W TEDDY BEAR TOSS: The annual A&W TEDDY BEAR, TOQUE AND MITTEN TOSS will take place December 12 when the ICE host the SWIFT CURRENT BRONCOS...Fans in attendance are encouraged to bring new and unused toques, mittens and teddy bears to launch onto the ice after KOOTENAY scores their first goal...Proceeds will benefit the SALVATION ARMY.
2 FOR 1 TUESDAYS: KOOTENAY ICE 2 FOR 1 TUESDAYS are back!...At every Tuesday regular season home game, fans can enjoy 2 FOR 1 deals on walk-up tickets and select concession items from COYOTE JACK'S...The next 2 FOR 1 TUESDAY is December 15 when the ICE host the RED DEER REBELS.
ROSTER UPDATE: Including long-term injuries, KOOTENAY is carrying 24 players (two goaltenders, nine defensemen and 13 forwards)...The ICE roster is made up of five 1995-born players, two 1996-born players, nine 1997-born players, seven 1998-born players, and one 1999-born player...KOOTENAY has eight first-year players on its roster.
DID YOU KNOW: DECLAN HOBBS has been named the WHL nominee for the VAUGHN CHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK for the week ending November 22 (1-1, 1.50 GAA, .957 save percentage)...HOBBS, who recorded his first career WHL victory November 21 versus SWIFT CURRENT (27 saves), also stopped his first career penalty shot November 21 against the BRONCOS (CAVIN LETH)...KOOTENAY has not allowed a penalty shot goal in regular season play since January 21, 2001 (BRETT DRANEY - MEDICINE HAT TIGERS), a stretch of 15 consecutive saves...MATT ALFARO scored his first career short-handed goal November 21 versus SWIFT CURRENT...CALE FLEURY registered his first career overtime winning goal November 20 against MOOSE JAW...Former ICE defenseman RINAT VALIEV (TORONTO MARLIES) recorded his first career professional goal November 21 versus ROCHESTER.
INJURIES / SUSPENSION: Defenseman JASON WENZEL will be out of the KOOTENAY lineup day to day with an upper body injury...Forward ZAK ZBOROSKY will be out of the ICE lineup week to week with a lower body injury...Forward RIVER BEATTIE will be out of the KOOTENAY lineup one to two weeks with an upper body injury...Forward LUKE PHILP will be out of the ICE lineup indefinitely with a lower body injury...Forward JAEDON DESCHENEAU will be out of the KOOTENAY lineup indefinitely with an upper body injury...Defenseman TYLER KING will be out of the ICE lineup indefinitely with a lower body injury...Forward SHANE ALLAN has been suspended for a length to be determined after incurring a charging major and game misconduct November 21 versus SWIFT CURRENT.
ONE YEAR AGO: After 24 games of the 2014-15 season the ICE were 10-14-0-0, after 25 games 11-14-0-0 and after 26 games 11-15-0-0.
