Hawks Happenings On The Ice:
Defenseman Caleb Jones registered two assists over two games this past weekend, earning his team-high 14th assist of the season. Jones, who was selected by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2015 NHL Draft, has 18 points so far this season, good for 11th overall among the league's leading defensemen.
Forward Paul Bittner notched three goals in the weekend's two games, posting the opening goal in the Hawks' 5-2 victory over the Tri-City Americans Friday, and adding two more for the Hawks on Saturday in Seattle. The Columbus Blue Jackets prospect has six points in the past six games for 17 points in 21 games so far this season.
The Hawks host the Moose Jaw Warriors on Wednesday in the lone meeting between the two teams this year. Moose Jaw (11-8-3-1) is led by Tampa Bay Lightning prospect Brayden Point, who leads the WHL in scoring with 43 points.
Hawks Happenings Off The Ice:
Fans can get pictures and autographs with Winterhawks players at Burgerville Monday evening: Rodrigo Abols and Caleb Jones will be at Burgerville (located at 1122 SE Hawthorne Blvd., Portland) from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., and then Brendan De Jong and Cody Glass will be there from 6:30 to 7:30, along with the Rosebuds.
This week, the Winterhawks will release the 2015-16 "Pucks and Paws" Calendar, a fundraising calendar with proceeds benefitting the Oregon Humane Society and the Humane Society For Southwest Washington. The calendar features photos of Winterhawks players with cats and dogs, and will be on sale beginning at Wednesday's game.
Saturday, November 28 is the Burgerville Daylight Classic when the Hawks host the Vancouver Giants in a special 3 p.m. start. The game will be played in the VMC with the curtains down, allowing natural light to enter the arena bowl. During the game, the team will host the "Keeping Portland Warm" drive in conjunction with the team's Booster Club and Portland Police Bureau's Sunshine Division.
