"Canes Crush Cancer" Month: The Hurricanes "Canes Crush Cancer" month helps raise awareness and funds for the Canadian Cancer Society. Special "Canes Crush Cancer" t-shirts will be sold for $20.00 with the proceeds going to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Special "Canes Crush Cancer" Jersey Night: The Hurricanes will be wearing special edition "Canes Crush Cancer" jerseys this Friday when they host the Brandon Wheat Kings at 7:00pm. The jerseys are available for purchase via silent auction. Proceeds going to the Canadian Cancer Society.
"Canes Crush Cancer" Ticket Special: During November you can purchase two tickets to any game during the month for just $30.00 (can be used at the same game or individual games). For every $30.00 purchase, $5.00 will be donated to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Family Skate: Monday night the Lethbridge Hurricanes will be taking part in the annual Family Skate at the ENMAX Centre from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Tyler Wong, Giorgio Estephan, Brayden Burke and many more Hurricanes will be there taking part.
Hurricanes FAN BUS: The Hurricanes will be sending a Fan Bus to Cranbrook this Saturday to watch the 'Canes take on the Ice. For just $60.00 you get a spot on the bus plus your ticket to the game. Spaces are limited. Call (403) 328-1986 for more information!
20th Annual Teddy & Toque Toss: Saturday, December 5th the Lethbridge Hurricanes will be holding the 20th annual Canadian Tire Teddy & Toque Toss when they face the Red Deer Rebels. Purchase a teddy or toque for $9.99 at both Canadian Tire stores in Lethbridge and you will get a FREE ticket to the game!
ROCK 106 Toy Mountain: Thursday, November 26th ROCK 106 Toy Mountain night when the Hurricanes host the Ice. Fans are encouraged to bring a new toy and donate them at the NE concourse. Those who donate get to enter to win an autographed Hurricanes jersey.
THE WEEK THAT WAS
Wednesday, November 18th - 4-3 Win vs. Everett: The Hurricanes snapped a three game losing streak by kicking off a five-game home stand with a 4-3 win over the Silvertips. Egor Babenko and Cory Millette each had a pair of goals in the win.
Friday, November 20th - 4-2 Loss vs. Prince George: The Cougars won their second game of the year against the Hurricanes snapping the 'Canes seven game home winning streak with a 4-2 win. Brett Davis scored his first WHL goal, while Justin Gutierrez added the other, in the loss.
Saturday, November 21st - 5-2 Win vs. Saskatoon: A career-high four point night for Cory Millette helped the Hurricanes win their fifth straight against the Blades by a 5-2 score. Five different goal scorers lit the lamp in the victory as the 'Canes improved to 2-1-0-0 on their home stand.
THIS WEEK'S GAME SCHEDULE
Thursday, November 26th - 7:00pm vs. Kootenay (sponsored by ROCK 106): The Hurricanes continue their five game home stand as they welcome the Kootenay Ice to the ENMAX Centre for the second time this season. It will be the third meeting of the season between the 'Canes and Ice. Lethbridge has won the previous two.
The Hurricanes will be raising awareness of Prostate Cancer. T-Shirts available on the concourse for $20 (proceeds to the Canadian Cancer Society).
Friday, November 27th - 7:00pm vs. Brandon: The Hurricanes will look to close out a five game home stand in style as they welcome the Wheat Kings to the ENMAX Centre for the first time. Brandon beat the 'Canes 4-1 just two weeks ago in Manitoba.
The Hurricanes will be wearing special edition "Canes Crush Cancer" jerseys that are available for auction (proceeds to the Canadian Cancer Society).
Saturday, November 28th - 7:00pm at Kootenay: The 'Canes make their second trip to Kootenay this Saturday to face the Ice for the second time in three days. The Hurricanes picked up a 5-1 win in their lone visit to Cranbrook this season. LISTEN ON ROCK 106.
NEWS & NOTES
Minor Trade: The Hurricanes swung a minor trade late Wednesday night as they dealt 18-year-old defenseman Brandon Kennedy to the Moose Jaw Warriors in exchange for a seventh round draft pick in the 2017 WHL Bantam Draft.
Home Ice Advantage: The Hurricanes are currently tied for the most home ice victories in the WHL as they have racked up a 9-2-0-0 home ice record. In their 11 games at the ENMAX Centre, the Hurricanes have outscored the opponent 48-28 (4.36 to 2.55 on average).
PK Boiling: Over their last 15 games, the Hurricanes penalty kill has been rolling along. In that span, the 'Canes have only allowed seven power play goals against killing off an impressive 48/55, a kill percentage of 87.2%. The 'Canes have only allowed three power play goals against in their last eight games.
Russian Delight: First year rookie import Egor Babenko has had a seamless transition to the WHL. In 23 games this season, the product of Tyumen, Russia as racked up 21 points (12g-9a). Babenko is on pace to score 66 points (38g-27a) over a 72 game season. The last Hurricanes import that scored 60+ points and 30+ goals was Tomas Kopecky in 2001-2002 when he had 76 points (34g-42a) in 60 games.
Offense from the Defense: Second year rearguard Andrew Nielsen has been outstanding to start the season. The third round pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs in June has record 24 points (7g-17a) 23 games this season. The 19-year-old from Red Deer is on pace to score 75 points this season. Nielsen has matched his goal and point total from last year in 36 less games.
