Weekend Preview: Fighting Falcons Close out Road Trip in Johnstown
November 22, 2013 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Port Huron Fighting Falcons News Release
JOHNSTOWN, PAÃâà- The Port Huron Fighting Falcons, proud members of the North American Hockey League, take their league-best 10-game unbeaten-in-regulation streak on the road for a weekend series against the Johnstown Tomahawks Friday and Saturday night. This is the third and final regular-season series the Fighting Falcons will play at Johnstown's Cambria County War Memorial Arena.
ÃâÃÂ
Port Huron heads into the weekend series with a six-point lead in the North Division standings and an overall record of 15-2-4. Johnstown is nine points back at 12-9-1. The Fighting Falcons have the fewest regulation losses in the NAHL, and have earned at least one point in every game since October 9, going 8-0-2 in that stretch.
ÃâÃÂ
The Fighting Falcons have gone 3-0-1 in Johnstown so far this season, winning the first three matchups before suffering an overtime loss in the last game between these teams on November 3.
ÃâÃÂ
Defenseman Alex Archibald leads the way with six points on two goals and four assists in four games against the Tomahawks this year. Port Huron's Zach Badalamenti (3G, 1A) and Nick Le Sage (1G, 3A) have also averaged a point per game in Johnstown this season.
ÃâÃÂ
Shane Bednard's three points on two goals and an assist against the Fighting Falcons lead the Tomahawks.
ÃâÃÂ
Strong goaltending has been the key to Port Huron's success against Johnstown this season, as the Fighting Falcons have held the Tomahawks to just seven goals in four matchups so far.
ÃâÃÂ
Max Milosek is 2-0-1 in three starts against the Tomahawks, while Alex Blankenburg allowed just one goal in a win in his only start in Johnstown this season.
ÃâÃÂ
The Tomahawks have started three different goalies in four games against the Fighting Falcons, with Jake Moore earning the overtime win earlier this month.
ÃâÃÂ
Port Huron looks to stay hot following a record-setting 10-goal performance last week in Janesville. Forward Matt Seidel was named the Easton North Division Star of the Week for his franchise-record six points on four goals and two assists Saturday.
ÃâÃÂ
Johnstown has played well of late, winning four of their last five games to overtake the Springfield Jr. Blues for third place in the North Division.
ÃâÃÂ
Both of this weekend's games start at 7 p.m. Each game will be broadcast live with play-by-play from Dennis Stuckey on WHLS/WHLX radio. Live video is available through www.fasthockey.com.
ÃâÃÂ
The Fighting Falcons make their return to McMorran Arena November 30 and December 1 when they host the Springfield Jr. Blues for "Retro Weekend." The Fighting Falcons will wear throwback jerseys honoring the Port Huron Flags, who played 16 memorable seasons in the International Hockey League at McMorran Arena in the 1960s and 1970s. Fans can pre-order the game-worn jerseys for just $100 by calling the Fighting Falcons' front office at (810) 966-3800.
