Week Ten Game Preview: Sharks vs. Cobras
June 6, 2018 - National Arena League (NAL)
Jacksonville Sharks News Release
JACKSONVILLE- The Jacksonville Sharks (6-3) travel to Greensboro, North Carolina to battle the Carolina Cobras (6-2) on Saturday, June 9, 2018. This is the third meeting between the Sharks and Cobras. The last time these two teams saw each other, the Cobras embarrassed the Sharks in the Shark Tank with a score of 55-21, which was the worst loss the Sharks have had in the NAL. The first time these two saw each o ther, the Sharks played a close battle in Greensboro and ended up defeating the Cobras 41-38. Times have changed since then. The Sharks are currently on a five game win-streak and the Cobras are the number one team in the league. This is also the last time these two teams face each other, so the Sharks need a victory if a home playoff spot is decided by one game between these two.
Last week against the Lions, the Sharks quarterback Adrian McPherson saw his best game as a Shark, throwing for 327 yards, eight touchdowns, and two touchdowns. The Sharks receivers beat the Lions defensive backs all night, as Antonio Vaughan had 108 yards and two touchdowns, Chris Gilchrist had 90 yards and three touchdowns, Cody Saul saw 55 yards and one touchdown, and Tom Gilson had 68 yards and two touchdowns. All four receivers had over 50 receiving yards and at least one touchdown. Watch all receivers as they look to top their performance that they had last week against the Lions.
Overall, the defense had a slow night in Columbus, but some things they can add on their resume is that they had a blocked PAT, one interception, and rushed the quarterback multiple times, which forced that interception. The game went down to the last drive with the Sharks being up 67-65. The defense held the Lions to fourth and goal, which brought out the special teams. The Lions didn't make the field goal, which meant that the Sharks defense didn't bend nor did they break.
The Sharks face the Cobras a total of three times, this being the third and final time.. This weekend's game will be at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena on Saturday at 7:00 pm (ET). The game will be streamed on Youtube Live, a link to the stream will be posted on www.facebook.com/jaxsharks
