May 12, 2005 - United Indoor Football Association (UIF) News Release
Omaha, NE â Ft. Wayne gets two and Ohio Valley puts one on list as the Midwest Division sweeps Players-of-the-Week awards in Week 8. United Indoor Football is proud to announce Players-of-the-Week awards for Week 8 of the 2005 season. Weekly awards are presented in three categories: Offense, Defense and Special Teams.
Week 8 offensive player of the week was Ft. Wayne wide receiver Jeremy Dutcher. The Freedom receiver made every catch count on Saturday night recording a total of 7 receptions for 94 yards and an impressive 13.4 yard per-catch average. Dutcher found the end zone 4 times on the night and contributed significantly to Ft. Wayne's hard-fought win over Sioux City. The Freedom kept their undefeated streak alive with the home win.
Ohio Valley strong safety Shawn Hackett claimed the Defensive player of the week award in Week 8. Hackett led the Greyhounds defense to a 43-26 win over the visiting Lexington Horsemen Saturday night. He had 6 solo tackles and 5 assists in the game. Hackett's efforts helped hold the Horsemen to one of their lowest point totals on the year.
Wrapping up the week 8 awards in the Special Teams category was another Ft. Wayne player, Kicker Billy Bennett. Bennett went 6 for 8 on point-after kicks for the Freedom and added an amazing 52 yard field goal to Ft. Wayne's win over Sioux City Saturday night.
