Rockford IceHogs News Release
Bacon Bits: -The Rockford IceHogs earned points in two of three games last week and snapped a seven-game skid with a 2-1 shootout win at Manitoba on Friday (March 17). The Hogs concluded the week with a 1-1-1-0 record and are currently ranked eighth in the Central Division with an overall record of 22-31-9-3 (56 points).
-With Friday's shootout win, Rockford now ranks among the top 11 teams in the AHL in both shootout goal efficiency and shootout goals allowed. Through a league-high nine shootouts, the Hogs are 10th in the AHL with a .207 percentage of shootout goals allowed (6 goals allowed in 29 attempts), and 11th with a .321 successful shootout goal percentage (nine goals scored in 28 attempts).
-Defenseman Luc Snuggerud and forward Anthony Louis made their respective AHL debuts during last week's game on March 17 at Manitoba. Snuggerud notched his first AHL point the following night with an assist on Jake Dowell's third-period goal, while Louis capped his AHL debut with the game-winning shootout goal at the Moose on Friday.
-Tyler Motte tallied at least one point in each of Rockford's three games last week, finishing the stretch with 1g-3a-4pts and a +1 rating. Motte has now totaled a team-high six points (2g, 4a) in six games during the month of March.
-Kyle Baun posted three points in three games last week while tying for the second-best plus/minus rating among all AHL skaters during that time. Baun totaled 2g-1a-3pts and a +5 rating over three games to trail only Tyler Wotherspoon (+6) and Andrew Campbell (+6) for the league's top plus/minus rating. Baun also currently leads the IceHogs with 29 points (13g, 16a) on the season.
-Michael Latta registered two assists on Saturday at Manitoba and has now nearly doubled his point production from the first half of the season while with the Ontario Reign. Latta began the 2016-17 campaign with 2g-4a-6pts in 29 games for the Reign before tallying 1g-10a-11pts in 22 successive games with the IceHogs, beginning on Jan. 25.
Upcoming Home Games: Saturday, Mar. 25: The IceHogs host the Grand Rapids Griffins in the eighth season matchup between the two teams at 7 p.m. Saturday night's matchup with the Griffins is highlighted by Country Night at the BMO Harris Bank Center. The first 1,500 fans to enter the arena will receive a cowboy boot mug courtesy of Pepsi and Dusty Boots.
Bud Light Monthly Monday Hog Talk At Vintage 501: Bud Light Hog Talk returns to Vintage 501 Monday, April 3 from 6-7 p.m. The sixth show will feature two IceHogs players and IceHogs Head Coach Ted Dent. Vintage 501 is located in downtown Rockford at 501 E. State St. Fans can join broadcaster Bob Mills and Kevin Peters from 6-7 p.m. on the first Monday of every month throughout the season as the duo chats with IceHogs players, coaches and front office members. For those unable to attend the show in-person, Monday's show will be streaming live on WXRX.com . "Bud Light Hog Talk" will also be available on www.icehogs.com following the live show. Fans can access the podcast through the "Audio Highlights" link in the "Multimedia" menu.
