Phantoms Slip by IceCaps 3-2 in Shootout

ST. JOHN'S, NL - The St. John's IceCaps fell 3-2 to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in a four-round shootout on Wednesday night at Mile One Centre.

The Phantoms kicked off the scoring with a first period marker from Scott Laughton to take the lead. Daniel Carr potted the equalizer just over seven minutes into the middle frame off a play from Daniel Audette.

Audette would add a marker of his own in the third period to give St. John's the lead. Chris Terry and Joel Hanley picked up the helpers on the IceCaps go-ahead tally. Lehigh Valley went on to tie it up with just 1:16 left in regulation to send it to overtime.

After a scoreless extra frame. The Phantoms took it in a four-round shootout, with Corban Knight scoring the only, and game-deciding goal.

The IceCaps are back in action this Saturday and Sunday with back-to-back 4:00 PM contests against the Hershey Bears during Family Weekend.
