Rochester Americans News Release
***This Week's Storylines***
*The Amerks look to snap a four-game skid on Tuesday night when they conclude their three-game Canadian road swing with a North Division showdown against the Toronto Marlies at Ricoh Coliseum. Rochester enters the matchup with a 6-1-0-1 record in the season series after a 4-3 win over the Marlies earlier this month. The Amerks closed out home portion of the season series with a near-perfect 4-0-0-1 record.
*Tuesday's game with the Marlies will be the first in which former Amerks captain Cal O'Reilly opposes his former club since his reassignment to Toronto on March 8. In 47 games this season with Rochester, O'Reilly had nine goals and a team-leading 30 assists. In 94 career games with the Amerks, the 30-year-old pro recorded 71 points (15+56) while serving 12 penalty minutes.
*Earlier today the Buffalo Sabres recalled defensemen Brady Austin and Casey Nelson. Buffalo's seventh-round pick in the 2012 NHL Draft, Austin joins the big club for his first career NHL recall after recording nine points (2+7) and 36 penalty minutes in 61 games for the Amerks this season. Meanwhile, Nelson, who has posted 13 points (4+9) in 45 AHL games in 2016-17, returns to the Sabres for his third stint of the season.
*Also on Monday, the Amerks announced the team signed forward Alex Kile to an American Hockey League contract for the 2017-18 season. Kile, 22, will join the Amerks for the remainder of this season on an Amateur Tryout (ATO). The Troy, Mich. native joins the Amerks after the conclusion of a four-year collegiate career at the University of Michigan. In four seasons with the Wolverines, Kile recorded 80 points (40+40) and 78 penalty minutes in 130 games while serving as team captain this past season. In his first two seasons, he and current Amerk Mac Bennett helped the Wolverines to a record of 36-32-7.
*The Amerks return home on Friday, Mar. 24 as they host the Springfield Thunderbird for the first time this season. With the contest Friday, the Amerks will play their first of three straight three-in-three weekends. Former Amerks goaltender Martin Biron will make an appearance at Friday's game as part of Seneca Resorts & Casinos Legends Night.
