Omaha Beef News Release
Omaha, Neb-- Silas Fluellen, a Bellevue native, has become the most recent addition to the 2011 Omaha Beef football team. The former Wayne State College quarterback looks to bring his passing expertise to the next level in the Indoor Football League.
Omaha Beef Head Coach Pat Pimmel is very excited that Fluellen will be a part of the 2011 Omaha Beef squad. "We are always looking to pick up local players that excelled at the collegiate level, and Silas is a perfect example of this," said Pimmel. "Numbers don't lie and what he accomplished in his four years at Wayne State is very impressive. He will be a big part of our offense come next year," continued Pimmel.
Since becoming the starter on the fourth game of his freshman season at Wayne State College Silas never looked back as he racked up numerous team and conference records. Silas became just the 9th player in NCAA Division II to gain over 12,000 yards of total offense with 12,001.
Silas holds the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference records in passing yards (8,996) and total offense in NSIC games (10,170). He led the NSIC in total offense (337.4) and passing offense (295.7) per game in 2009. Fluellen ranks 5th in NCAA Division II in total offense and 16th nationally in passing offense.
