News and Notes...
Howes Has it Going: Greg Howes continued his fast start on Saturday night as he finished the game with a hat-trick, making it the second consecutive game that he had three points. It was also the second consecutive week that he sparked the Wave's offense with two first quarter goals. Howes' third goal of the night gave him 199 for his career. On the season, the Tacoma, WA, native leads the Wave and the MISL in points with six.
Milwaukee Milestones: As noted above, several players on the Wave are closing in on career milestones. Greg Howes is just one goal away from 200 for his career and Michael King is just one assist away from 400 for his career. Giuliano Oliviero will enter Saturday's game a hat-trick away from the 300 goal mark.
Fashion and Fun for Charity: A few members of the Milwaukee Wave joined AALA|Reed, Brady Street's premier men's clothier, in celebrating their fourth anniversary on Tuesday, November 15. The players modeled the latest fashions and the evening will included a dj, cocktails, a raffle prize package and lots of fun. AALA|Reed has agreed to donate 10% of all clothing purchases made that evening to Wave of Kindness.
New Faces Looking Good: The Wave acquired Eduardo Sebrango and Kyt Selaidopoulos from the Cleveland Force in the MISL Dispersal Draft over the summer and, so far, the early returns have been great. Sebrango (four) and Selaidopoulos (three) rank second and third, respectively on the team in points and they're both tied for the team lead in assists (two). Sebrango is also second on the team in goals with two. Both rank among the MISL leaders in points, Sebrango is tied for third and Selaidopoulos is tied for sixth (Greg Howes leads the league with six points).
Home Sweet Home: By defeating the Storm 7-3 on Saturday night, the Wave won their 11th home opener in 14 tries under Head Coach Keith Tozer. The victory improved Tozer's winning percentage in home debuts to nearly 79 percent.
Last Action: 11/12/05 vs. Chicago Storm - W, 7-3 - The Wave got off to a fast start by jumping out to a three goal lead after one quarter and then used that momentum to win the game 7-3. Chicago made a run in the second quarter, with Awadalla Morad scoring the opening goal of the frame. After an Eduardo Sebrango score put the Wave ahead 4-1, two quick penalties against Lovelace Ackah and Nick Vorberg gave the Storm a two man advantage. With Vorberg in the penalty box, Hewerton took over in goal. After allowing Gus Kartes to score on a power play (bringing Ackah back on the field), Hewerton and the Wave kept Chicago off the board for the rest of Vorberg's penalty and headed to the locker room ahead 4-2. The Wave outscored the Storm 3-1 in the second half to close out their second win of the season. Several Wave players starred in the performance. Nick Vorberg again lead a strong defensive effort in stopping 15 of the 17 shots he faced and Eduardo Sebrango and Greg Howes played great offensive games. Sebrango finished his home debut with a team leading four points (two goals and two assists) and Howes notched a hat-trick, bringing his career goal total to 199.
