Milwaukee Wave News Release

MILWAUKEE, WI (January 3, 2005) - The Major Indoor Soccer League announced today that Todd Dusosky, Matt Schmidt and Nick Vorberg are the league's players of the month for December. This is Vorberg's second consecutive Goalkeeper of the Month award while Dusosky and Schmidt receive their first Offensive Player of the Month and Defensive Player of the Month awards, respectively.

Last season's MISL Championship Series Finals Most Valuable Player, Todd Dusosky, turned up his game in December. By averaging 2.5 points per game in the month, Dusosky distanced himself from many of the challengers for this honor. The Anoka, Minn., native has been with the Wave since December of the 1996-97 season. Dusosky had five goals and five assists in December, raising his season points total to 15. Dusosky was the MISL Offensive Player of the Week on December 12 after he helped account (goal or assist) for 50 percent of the Wave's goals in back-to-back victories over Philadelphia and at Baltimore. He trails just three players in the Spalding Scoring Championship race and is tied for the MISL lead with 10 assists. The 10 year veteran has at least two points in each of his last six games and closed 2005 with a two-goal showing in an 8-2 win over California.

In December, Matt Schmidt accumulated 10 blocks, raising his season total to 17; which led the league at the end of 2005. The Wave defense, of which he and goalkeeper Nick Vorberg are huge contributors, allowed 3.66 goals during the month and a league low 3.3 on the season. The Milwaukee native was also productive on the offensive end as he totaled seven points to rank third among Wave players (first among defenders) in December, averaging 1.75 points per game. Schmidt had five goals (one game-winner), two assists, scored at least one goal in each match and had two multi-point games. He has played in 135 consecutive games for the Wave (regular and postseason), a streak that dates to April 19, 2002.

Vorberg earns his second consecutive MISL Goalkeeper of the Month in December. He won back-to-back games on December 9 and 10, between an overtime win against second-place St. Louis on December 3, and an 8-2 victory before a crowd of 6,603 at Milwaukee's U.S. Cellular Arena on December 31, as the Wave rushed into the New Year at 8-0, the best start in the 24-year history of the franchise. The native of Grants Pass, Ore., was a Second-Team All-MISL selection in 2004-05 when he led the League with 22 wins, a 3.96 goals against average, and a 76.2 save percentage. Vorberg has improved on last season's numbers and is again setting the pace for MISL goalkeepers in wins (8), g.a.a. (3.00), and save percentage (78.9). Making those statistics more impressive is the fact that, through the end of December, Vorberg had played an MISL-leading 479:39 minutes.

Milwaukee (8-0) plays back-to-back games against the Baltimore Blast this weekend. On Friday the Wave looks to improve on a franchise-best 8-0 start at 7:05 p.m. at the U.S. Cellular Arena. Tickets for all Wave home games ($12, $14, $16, and $20) can be purchased by calling 414-224-WAVE. Wave tickets are also available at Ticketmaster outlets and www.ticketmaster.com.
