Wave selects Martin Dugas and Rusty Troy in MISL Dispersal Draft

(Milwaukee, WI) The Milwaukee Wave, a member of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) selected former Wave players Martin Dugas and Rusty Troy in today's MISL Dispersal Draft. The players chosen were former members of the Dallas Sidekicks, a team that has dropped out of the league for the upcoming season.

The 32-year old Dugas is an eight-year veteran who spent two seasons with the Wave (2001-03) prior to being selected by Monterrey in last year's expansion draft. Monterrey eventually traded him to Dallas, where he appeared in 23 games for the Sidekicks recording 10 goals and 14 assists for 24 points before suffering a season-ending knee injury in February. In his two previous seasons with Milwaukee, the 6-2, 185 lb native of St. Catherine's, ON tallied 23 goals and 22 assists for 45 points in 75 regular season games. He also added two goals and one assist for three points in eight playoff games during that span. For his indoor career, the versatile Dugas, who has been an effective contributor as a forward, midfielder, and defender, has compiled 142 goals and 100 assists for 242 points in 258 career regular season appearances.

The 37-year old Troy, a 6-0, 180 lb native of Irvine, TX is a 13-year veteran who last played with the Sidekicks in 2001. In two previous seasons with Milwaukee (1997-99), the former University of North Texas star, who was a regular defender for the Wave, totaled 22 goals and 16 assists for 38 points in 53 regular season appearances. He also had three goals and four assists for seven points in 14 playoff appearances.

"Martin and Rusty are two experienced players who know our system pretty well," said Wave Head Coach / Vice President – Soccer Operations Keith Tozer. "I'm not sure if they have any aspirations to continue playing, but we're interested in talking to Martin about playing right now and talking to Rusty about playing later this season if we have some injuries."

The Wave opens training camp in preparation for the upcoming season this Friday, October 1 at Uihlein Soccer Park. Players are scheduled to report for physicals Friday morning before getting on field for the first practice session at 1 PM.

The Wave's regular season opener is set for Saturday, October 23, 7 PM against the first-year Chicago Storm at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, IL. Milwaukee's home opener is slated for Friday, October 29, 7:05 PM when the Wave hosts the Storm at U.S. Cellular Arena featuring a post-game concert by the popular local group "The Love Monkeys."

Food and beverages will be provided, and "The Love Monkeys" will also be on hand to provide entertainment from 12:30-1:00 PM.
