Wave Season Comes to An End in Missouri
March 13, 2016 - Major Arena Soccer League (MASL)
Milwaukee Wave News Release
Your Six-Time Champion Milwaukee Wave needed a win tonight to force a 15-minute Mini-Game 3 in Missouri but instead came up short in Game 2 of the Major Arena Soccer League Central Division Playoffs, losing the Comets 8-2.
HEAD COACH GIULIANO OLIVIERO ON...
Locker room atmosphere / What he said to the guys after the game:
"The guys are pretty upset and no one wanted our season to end tonight. We talked about not beating ourselves like we did on Friday during game one but unfortunately we gave up two early restart goals and Missouri is a team you cannot play from behind on, especially in their building. You've gotta tip your hat to the Comets. Overall, the guys worked hard to get into the playoffs, recommitted and focused. I'm very proud of the team and their efforts this season."
On the Missouri / Milwaukee rivalry and what's next for our team:
"Missouri has had that core together for six years now. The first two years we beat them, they were a young group that had just gotten together, six years into it and now they are a dominant force. Year after year they continued to add pieces to their core and get better. As for us, I think we're missing a couple of pieces here and there. It's going to be an interesting off season and we're going to adapt, see where are weaknesses are and go from there. We also continue to get ready for the next facet of Milwaukee Wave life, Summer Soccer Camp and insuring that we continue to run the best camps in the Midwest, if not the entire country"
To Wave Nation:
"We really wanted to get our fans at least one more home game and in fact talked about them in the locker room and during the game today about how important and special they are to us. We are just thankful for all of their support, even when things aren't going well, they don't waiver, they remain strong and positive and it's a huge help to all the players. We've got the best fans in all of indoor soccer. I wish we could of done better for them tonight."
