Milwaukee Wave News Release
MILWAUKEE, WI (November 14, 2005) - Milwaukee Wave Vice President of Soccer Operations and Head Coach Keith Tozer announced today that the team has reacquired longtime veteran defender, Pat White, from the California Cougars in exchange for midfielder Leighton O'Brien.
White, a native of Milwaukee, was the Wave's first-round draft choice (second overall) in the 1995 NPSL Amateur Draft. He has played every game of his career with the Wave and is the team's all-time leader in blocks (450) and third in total number of games played (368). He has been on all four of Milwaukee's championship squads.
"It's wonderful to get a veteran defender of Pat's caliber back," Keith Tozer said. "We're not sure when he will be available to play, but having Pat White's talents as a defender available to us in the second half of the season is a great addition to our club."
O'Brien played in 36 games with the Wave from 2002 through 2004. In that time, he compiled 19 goals and 14 assists for 33 points. O'Brien also had 11 blocks with the Wave. He was a teammate of Wave forward Brett Wiesner on the United Soccer League's 2005 Division One champion Seattle Sounders.
The Milwaukee Wave was established in 1984 as one of six charter members of the American Indoor Soccer Association (AISA). In 2001, the Wave transitioned to being a successful member of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL). Through the guidance of head coach Keith Tozer, the winningest coach in Wave and North American indoor soccer history, the Wave has won four league titles (1997-98, 1999-00, 2000-01, 2004-05), seven regular season championships, and has made seven championship series appearances. The Wave plays at home in the US Cellular Arena located in downtown Milwaukee.
