Milwaukee Wave News Release

(Milwaukee, WI) -  The Milwaukee Wave continued their strong season, getting two more victories this past week to push their winning streak to 14 games. The team hopes to continue to keep the momentum they have going when they take on Missouri Saturday night at the U.S. Cellular Arena.

The team first headed on the road to Wichita to battle the Wings and the team held off a fourth quarter rally by the Wings to get the win. The Wave came out with a great performance in the first half, as goals by Hewerton, Nick Perera, and Luan Oliveira put the Wave out front 6-0 heading into the second half. Kevin Ten Eyck finally got the Wings on the board with a goal to make it 6-2, but Perera and Hewerton would score their second goals of the game to extend the Wave's lead to 10-2. The Wings would stage a rally with eight unanswered points to tie the game at 10-10. In the end the Wave would come out on top 12-10, thanks to a goal by Hewerton, which completed the hat trick.

On Sunday the Chicago Soul came to the U.S. Cellular to try and beat the Wave for the first time all season. The Wave started the scoring when Ian Bennett put one in the net, but the Soul got things going as Semir Mesanovic and Carlos "Chile" Farias goals would put the Soul ahead 4-2 after one quarter. In the second Mesanovic and Christian Meza helped the Soul's lead climb to 8-2. Luan Oliveira would score for the Wave to lessen the deficit to 8-4 heading into the half.

It would be all Wave in the second half, as Oliveira and Bennett each scored their second goals of the game to tie the score at 8-8. Joe Hammes put the Wave in front 10-8, and that was followed up by another goal by Oliveira and one by Hewerton. That completed a ten point third quarter for the Wave, with the Wave now in control 14-8 with one quarter left. Tenzin Rampa and Oliveira scored to push the lead to 18-8, but Erik Lukin ended the Wave's scoring streak at 14 unanswered, however that was all the scoring that remained as the Wave got an 18-10 victory.

This will be the third meeting between the Wave and the Comets. In the first the Comets defeated the Wave 13-11 in Milwaukee's first home game of the season. The two teams battled back and forth, but a goal by Luan Oliveira put the Wave up 7-4 at half. In the third a goal by Ryan Junge tied the score at 7-7, but Jonathan Greenfield and Jonathan Santos put the Wave ahead 11-7. The Comets would come back with two goals of their own one with 33 seconds left to put the score at 11-11 and send the two teams into overtime. In the golden goal overtime Coady Andrews scored early to give the Comets the win.

In the two teams second matchup the Wave jumped out in front early and never looked back en route to an 18-6 win. Josh Rife and Marcelo Fontana put the team ahead 4-0 in the first, and after a slow second quarter, the scoring continued for the Wave in the third, when a goal by Luan Oliveira, and Rife's second of the game made it 8-0. A Missouri score by Byron Alvarez made it 8-2 heading into the final quarter. Joe Hammes and Nick Perera scored to extend the Wave's lead to 13-2. After that Oliveira and Fontana added their second goals of the game to clinch the victory.
