Syracuse Silver Knights News Release
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse Silver Knights of the Major Indoor Soccer League are set to host the Baltimore Blast for the third straight game on Friday, February 1, at 7:30 p.m. at the Oncenter War Memorial Arena.
In what is being dubbed as "Camo Night," Syracuse will wear specialty camouflage jerseys that will be auctioned off immediately following the game, with a portion of the proceeds going to the CNY Veterans Outreach Program. The 6-13 Silver Knights will look to avenge a pair of heartbreaking losses to the second-place Blast as they make their final playoff push.
Syracuse sits just 1.5 games back of the final playoff spot, but with just seven contests left in the regular season, Friday's tilt with the Blast presents a virtual "must-win" scenario. "Obviously with only seven games remaining every game is vital to our success," said Silver Knights president and head coach, Tommy Tanner. "Beating Baltimore would be a confidence-builder going into the end of the season."
Brazilian striker Neto, who joined the Knights before the start of the campaign, currently sits in the third spot of the MISL goal scoring rankings and will line up against Baltimore's own dynamic offensive weapon, Machel Millwood, who is tied with Neto for the fourth spot in overall points with 59. Praising Neto, Tanner said: "Neto has been a great addition and has provided us with great target play. He's a player who can put the ball in the back of the net."
