Milwaukee Wave News Release

(Milwaukee, WI) - The Wave will play its biggest game of the season this Saturday taking on the Blast. Although the Wave were the team who came out on top in the last two MISL Championships, it was the Baltimore Blast who took the team's first meeting of the regular season. The Wave now hopes their recent play and home crowd will hand the Blast a loss. The Blast are currently undefeated and play in Chicago before heading to Milwaukee on Saturday.

In the two teams first meeting in Baltimore the Blast demonstrated why they are the top team in the MISL, defeating the Wave 15-4. Things were close in the first as Mike Deasel and Tino Nunez scored for Baltimore, while Giuliano Oliviero put the Wave on the borad making it 4-2 at the end of the quarter. In the second quarter Tony Donatelli gave the Blast two more points to make it 6-2, but Evan McNeley got the Wave within two with a goal of his own. Lucas Roque scored near the end to give the Blast an 8-4 lead at the half, and the team didn't look back from there. The Blast ended up holding the Wave scoreless while getting seven more points of their own on goals by Adriano Dos Santos, Max Ferdinand and Mike Lookingland.

Since that loss the Wave are currently on a three game winning streak, with wins over Chicago, Rochester, and another win against Chicago in their last game. A great team effort gave the Wave a 9-2 victory, beginning with a two point goal by Luan Oliveira, who in his rookie season is leading the Wave with 12 points. A goal by Hewerton, and stellar defense led by goalie Nick Vorberg kept the Soul scoreless through the half. Marcio Leite netted a three point goal, while Carlos Frias scored for the Soul to make it 7-2. Joe Hammes scored near the end to clinch the win, and keep the Wave's momentum heading into the matchup vs. Baltimore

Baltimore is currently undefeated on the season with a record of 9-0. Six of those wins have come after the first game vs. Milwaukee, and they hope to add another to the win column. Most recently the Blast defeated Missouri 15-9 on a great team effort led by Lucio Gonzaga who contributed two goals. Mike Lookingland, Mike Deasel, Tony Donatelli, Lucas Roque, and Machel Millwood had goals of their own to help the team remain unbeated. The play of Millwood and Donatelli has been a key reason Baltimore is unbeaten so far this season.
