Milwaukee Wave News Release
BALTIMORE (Jan. 9, 2010) - Kyt Selaidopoulos capped a gritty fourth-quarter comeback with the tying and winning goals in the final 4:09 as the Milwaukee Wave knocked off the Baltimore Blast 11-9 on Saturday at 1st Mariner Arena.
Milwaukee trailed 9-4 early in the fourth quarter before coming back to recapture first place in the MISL at 5-2. Baltimore fell to 5-3, a half-game out.
After the teams played to a 4-all tie after three quarters, the Blast appeared to take control on a 3-pointer by Lucio Gonzaga and a 2-pointer by Jonathan Greenfield just 62 seconds apart.
MISL Offensive Player of the Month Marco Terminesi gave the Wave some life, however, banging in a 3-pointer on a restart with 10:21 to go.
The first of Selaidopoulos' goals concluded a pinball sequence, with a shot high off the boards rebounding to Giuliano Oliviero. He headed the ball again high off the end boards, and Selaidopoulos headed it past Blast goalkeeper Sagu.
On the game-winner, Selaidopoulos ran over the ball on a restart at the far boards. He curled toward the box, and Joe Hammes' drive deflected off Selaidopoulos' knee and into the far corner.
Selaidopoulos and Terminesi each finished with five points. Terminesi regained the lead in the MISL scoring chase with 26 points. Nick Vorberg was the winning keeper for the Wave with 11 saves.
The Wave host Monterrey (3-5) at 2 p.m. Sunday on Hispanic Heritage Day. Tickets are still available, call 414-224-9283 or visit Ticketmaster.com.
