Milwaukee Wave News Release
After an 8-4 win in St. Louis on Friday, your Six-Time Champion MKE Wave headed to the windy city Saturday and lost to defending Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL) Champion Chicago Mustangs 5-4.
"I thought we were going to send the game into overtime," said Head Coach Giuliano Oliviero. "It's unfortunate! Our legs were heavy and we didn't win individual battles on defense."
MW: We talk about style of play and Chicago plays at a very rapid pace, was that a factor tonight?
"It was almost like an international game," said Oliviero. "Chicago plays a different style than any of the other teams we've met this season. They have some very good technical players, some very good one vs ones on that team."
MW: We split the holiday weekend series with a win in STL and a loss here in CHI, what do you tell the guys after this game tonight?
"We had a couple of positives tonight," said Oliviero. "I thought our sixth attacker #23 Victor Quiroz did very well, overall defensively we weren't that good in matching Chicago's intensity but at the end of the day we are really looking forward to playing in front of our home fans. After 5 consecutive games on the road, 5 consecutive bus trips, we are looking forward to taking are of business at home.
The home opener at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena, formerly U.S. Cellular Arena, is this Saturday, December 6th at 6:05pm against the St. Louis Ambush. Check out the full regular season schedule at MilwaukeeWave.com
