Milwaukee Wave News Release

PHILADELPHIA – The Milwaukee Wave defeated the Philadelphia KiXX 6-3 at the Wachovia Spectrum in front of 6,756 fans in the second half of a home-and-home series between the two teams tonight. Behind two goals from Giuliano Oliviero and a strong defensive effort, the Wave rebounded from a 6-3 loss to the KIXX on Friday night. With the win, Milwaukee takes a two-game lead over Philadelphia in the league standings and improves its record to 22-13. The Philadelphia KiXX got on the board first for the second straight night against the Wave with a goal by Kevin Sloan (10:08). KiXX defender Pat Morris sent in a long pass that Sloan was able to control off the boards for the score past Wave goalkeeper Nick Vorberg.

The Wave evened up the scoring early in the second period as Greg Howes (1:57) was able to send in a low bouncer past KiXX keeper Peter Pappas. Philadelphia regained the lead as Daniel Antoniuk found Pat Morris at the low post for the score at 13:30.

Milwaukee killed a tripping penalty on Chad Dombrowski and responded with back-to-back goals by Matt Schmidt and Giuliano Oliviero to take a 3-2 lead late in the third. Angel Rivillo found Schmidt at the top of the arc for the first score at 9:47. Milwaukee was then able to split Philadelphia's defense as Ricardinho found Oliviero for the second goal past Pappas at 11:14.

The Wave took a two-goal lead just 32 seconds into the final period as Todd Dusosky slipped the ball to Rivillo who blasted the shot home. Milwaukee collected its fourth unanswered goal at the 5:58 mark as Dusosky sent the ball out to Oliviero for his second goal of the night.

Pat White collected the insurance goal at 12:53 off the assist from Michael King against Philadelphia sixth attacker Pat Morris. The KiXX collected a goal with just 20 seconds remaining as Don D'Ambra found Sloan who was able to beat the defense for the score.

Vorberg was stellar in goal tonight, stopping 18-of-21 shots faced to preserve his league-leading 20th win. Oliviero finished with two goals and an assist, Dusosky added two assists and Angel Rivillo a goal and an assist for Milwaukee.

After falling to the KiXX 6-3 in Philadelphia in the first match between the two teams, the Wave has rebounded to win the last two at the Wachovia Spectrum.
