Wave Announces Hall Of Fame Nominees

MILWAUKEE (Dec. 18, 2009) - From the First Fan to a three-time MVP, the 10 nominees for the second class of the Milwaukee Wave Hall of Fame encompass a broad spectrum of team history.

Wave alumni will vote for two individuals to join the Hall of Fame on Jan. 23, 2010 when the Wave host Baltimore at 6 p.m. The inaugural class, chosen last year, included Victor Nogueira, Steve Morris, Pete Knezic, Michael King, Art Kramer and Todd Dusosky.

This year's nominees are:

Lovelace Ackah - Defender from 1999-2009; won three championships and is second on Wave's career shot-block list.

Louise Au - Season ticket holder from the very first year in 1984-85.

Greg Howes - Forward from 2000-2008; four-time scoring champion and three-time league MVP.

Bryan "Moose" Koch - Started as a ballboy and ascended to assistant GM. Associated with the Wave for 20 years.

Ricky Mobley - Defender from 1992-99; fourth on all-time list with 360 shot blocks.

George Pastor - Scored 153 goals in 156 games from 1986-91.

Tony Pierce - Goalkeeper for 7 years in 1980s and 1990s; second on Wave career list in most categories.

Michael Richardson - In five seasons through the late 1990s, scored 320 points and blocked 227 shots.

Pat White - Popular defender won 4 titles and leads Wave in blocked shots (452).

Tom Wynn - "Voice of the Wave" for 20 years.

The new class will be honored as part of the first Wave Homecoming on Jan. 23. All alumni are invited to attend the game, and members of the 2000 and 2005 championship teams will be recognized.

Wave of Champions: In another nod to the team's rich history, the Wave is recognizing a "Champion" prior to each game with a short video and on-field presentation.

The first Champion will be Louise Au, who has held Wave season tickets since the inaugural season in 1984-85, and been a friend and surrogate mother to an entire generation of Wave players.

The Wave (2-2) play next on Sunday, Dec. 27 at Monterrey. The next home game is 2 p.m. Dec. 31 against Baltimore in the annual New Year's Eve game. Following the game, the team will celebrate the New Year on the field with fans at 5 p.m. CST, midnight in Berlin. Fans can get four Premier level tickets, four hot dogs and four sodas for $59. The Milwaukee Wave professional indoor soccer team is the longest-running soccer franchise in continuous operation in the United States.
