January 7, 2023 - Major Arena Soccer League (MASL)
Milwaukee Wave News Release
The 7-Time Champion Milwaukee Wave dominated MASL Eastern Division rivals, the St. Louis Ambush, Saturday night at The Family Arena.
"I've been preaching to the guys about playing four complete quality quarters this season and tonight we did just that," said Head Coach Giulaiano Oliviero. "This win says a lot about our team and to execute like they did was awesome."
MASL Offensive Player of the Week for Week 5 of action and team captain Ian Bennett started the scoring for the Wave just three minutes into the first quarter and there was no turning back.
Addition Milwaukee Wave goals came Derek Huffman Troy Morrison, Shawn Azcueta, Andre Hayne x2, Ian Bennett x2, and Javier Steinwascher.
"We played very well on both sides of the ball and stayed the course," exclaimed Oliviero. "I'm very proud of our team and how they performed tonight. We want to keep this kind of vibe going the rest of the season."
The Milwaukee Wave will return home and enjoy their Sunday with family and friends and then it's back to work Monday to prepare for Monterrey, Friday night at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena.
"The last time we played against Monterrey was for the 2019 MASL Ron Newman Cup in our building and I'm sure some of their guys are still sour about the loss," added Oliviero. "They are one of the better teams in the league with great individuals and good coaching under Mariano Bollella. We're expecting an intense battle Friday night but looking forward to it."
