
Waterloo Takes Game 1, Wins 2-1

Lincoln, Neb. - Special teams dominated Game 1 of the series as the Black Hawks scored two power play goals en route to a 2-1 win on Friday in the Ice Box.
The Black Hawks opened the scoring with a power play goal at 14:32 of the first when Mikey Anderson fired a slap shot over the left shoulder of Stars goalie Peyton Jones.
Waterloo took a 1-0 advantage into the first intermission.
Sam McCormick stretched the Black Hawks lead in the second, catching a pass from Liam Pecararo and burying it to make the score 2-0 midway through the period. The power-play goal was the second of the night for Waterloo.
Lincoln capitalized on special teams in the third, cutting the lead to 2-1 with 5:28 left in third, but Collin Peters' goal was not enough for the team.
The Stars finished one-for-eight on the power play. The Black Hawks finished two-for-eight on the man advantage.
Jones made 26 saves.
Waterloo leads the five-game series, 1-0.
