Waterloo Black Hawks News Release

Party Town, Iowa

The City of Waterloo officially designated itself as "Party Town" during Monday's city council meeting. Mayor Buck Clark issued the proclamation after the Hawks celebrated the attendance of one million fans under the ownership of Butch and Pat Johnson during a game on February 27th. The statement said in part that the organization "brought fun, excitement, and pride to Waterloo and the Cedar Valley." Black Hawks representatives were presented with a congratulatory plaque and applauded at the meeting.

Puskar Picking Up Momentum

Starting with two goals and an assist against his former team, forward Jon Puskar enjoyed an exciting week. All three of his points against the Lincoln Stars were recorded during a third period comeback, including the game-tying goal. Then facing Green Bay Friday, Puskar had a single-game, career-best two assists. In 13 games for Waterloo, Puskar has three goals and five assists, three points shy of what he accumulated in 26 games for the Stars this season.

Shutout Side-Stepped

All of the Black Hawks chances were turned away Saturday against Team USA until Scott Wamsganz scored with 10:44 left in the game. Waterloo has only been blanked by an opponent once this season: 7-0 on October 31st while visiting the Indiana Ice. The last time the Hawks were shutout at home during the regular season was a 3-0 loss to Sioux Falls on February 25, 2006.

Repeat Weekends

The Hawks see the same opponents on the next two Fridays and Saturdays. Waterloo is at home against Des Moines then visits Cedar Rapids. The venues are reversed the following weekend.
