Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
Montpetit Making His Mark
Scoring points in all three games since Christmas, Black Hawk Captain Brock Montpetit is climbing higher among the franchise's all-time leaders in several statistical categories. With 66 career assists, Montpetit is now tied with Ryan Hale for 9th among all Black Hawks. His 106 points in two-and-a-half seasons tie for 16th and the future Nebraska-Omaha Maverick is one of 34 modern Black Hawks with at least 40 career goals.
MacDonald's Steady Start
Defenseman Jacob MacDonald made his debut as a Black Hawk last Tuesday in Youngstown after playing midget hockey in Michigan for Compuware's U-18 team. MacDonald was had an even plus-minus rating in his three appearances in the Black Hawk line-up, jumping into power play and penalty-killing roles. He was only on the ice for one opposing goal, scored by Indiana in the second period Saturday.
Divisional Discrepancies
The Waterloo Black Hawks have not won in their last five games against USHL Eastern Division opponents, recording a 0-3-2 record since defeating the Indiana Ice on November 28th. While wins have been difficult to come by, four of five losses in the streak have been by one goal, with two games going to overtime. Four of Waterloo's next five games will be played in the Eastern Division.
Team USA
The Hawks see the U.S. National Team Development Program, or Team USA, for the first time this season on Friday. The NTDP is actually two teams, based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, with an Under-18 and Under-17 squad, each with some of the finest young players in their age group. The U-18 team visits Young Arena this weekend. Team USA also played full USHL seasons in 1998-1999 and 1999-2000.
