Washington Stealth News Release
Everett, Wash. - The National Lacrosse League announced its weekly award winners today for games played on the weekend of April 8-10, Week #14 of the regular season. Washington Stealth forward Rhys Duch was voted the Overall Player of the Week after his performance in the Stealth's 16-15 overtime victory over the Minnesota Swarm on April 9.
In a game against the Minnesota Swarm that could ultimately determine home field for the Stealth's first round playoff game, Duch scored five goals and five assists for ten points in a 16-15 overtime win. Duch assisted on the game-tying goal with 20 seconds left in regulation, and capped off the night by scoring the game-winning goal just 30 seconds into the overtime period. Duch also collected 12 loose balls in a win that puts the Stealth in control of their own destiny for second place in the Western Division.
Duch, in his third NLL season, is enjoying a stellar 2011 campaign. He currently sits in second in the league with 84 points and is tied for the league lead with a career-high 40 goals in 15 games this season. He has recorded over 80 points in each of his first three years in the league. Duch also leads the NLL with five game-winning goals, including two in overtime games.
