Washington Shuts Out Boomers 5-0

Schaumburg, Il - The Washington Wild Things (8-5) shut out the Schaumburg Boomers by a score of 5-0 at in Schaumburg Saturday evening.

Successful pitching and defense along with a productive third inning combined to give Washington their eighth victory of the season.

Washington's bats came to life in the third inning when John Ziznewski's sacrifice fly drove in Scott Carcaise who had reached on a walk and advanced to third on an Eddie Sorondo double.  Austin Wobrock drove in Sorondo, and Bryan Haar's two-run-double scored Jamal Austin and Wobrock.  Washington exited the inning with a four run advantage.

In the sixth inning Haar scored on a wild pitch after he led the inning off with a triple.  The Boomer's starting pitcher, Brett Mabry left the game due to an injury he sustained when David Popkins' line drive hit him. 

Brandon Hinkle (1-1) earned the victory, allowing five hits, walking one, and striking out four in six innings of work.  Kolin Stanley and Andrew Woeck combined for three innings allowing no hits.
