Washington Mystics Sign WNBA Champion Stefanie Dolson

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Washington Mystics announced today that they have signed Olympic gold medalist, WNBA Champion, and two-time WNBA All-Star Stefanie Dolson.

"Stef Dolson is a significant addition to our team and her versatility as a post player adds an important dimension to our lineup," said General Manager Mike Thibault. "She can play both inside and on the perimeter because of her three-point shooting and she is also one of the best passing and screening post players in the league."

Thibault added, "She has an instinct for making her teammates better. Her experience in defending a variety of post players gives us flexibility in our defensive matchups, and just as important, Stef brings leadership and positivity to our team, on and off the court. We are extremely excited for our reunion with Stef."

Dolson, who was originally drafted by the Mystics with the sixth overall pick in the 2014 WNBA Draft, returns to Washington where she spent the first three years of her career and earned her first WNBA All-Star selection. With Washington, the 6-5 center averaged 8.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 102 games played (65 starts).

The University of Connecticut product has appeared in 294 career games (216 starts) with the New York Liberty (2022-24), Chicago Sky (2017-21), and Washington Mystics (2014-16), averaging 8.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.8 assists while shooting .504 from the field in 22.6 minutes per game. The 10-year veteran appeared in 23 games off the bench for the Liberty last season, averaging 4.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.2 assists while shooting .515 from the field and .462 from three-point range.

Dolson has helped her teams to the playoffs in seven of her 10 seasons, including winning a WNBA Championship in 2021 with the Sky and reaching the WNBA Finals last season with the Liberty. Other career highlights include making Olympic history after winning a gold medal with Team USA in the first-ever women's 3x3 basketball tournament during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and being named a WNBA All-Star in 2015 and 2017.
