
Warthogs salvage final game at Wilmington

Winston-Salem, NCâ The Winston Salem Warthogs (29-41) won at Wilmington, 4-3, Sunday afternoon in the final game of the first half. The Warthogs broke a four game losing streak and will begin the second half with a fresh record Monday at Frederick. Sean Tracey (4-6) won his second straight start for the Warthogs. Tracey gave up one earned run on three hits in six innings. Jose Espinal gave up two runs in the ninth, but earned his first save. Blue Rocks' starter, Devon Lowery, suffered his sixth loss. Lowery gave up just one earned run on four hits in 4 2/3 innings.
The 'hogs trailed, 1-0, in the top of the second. Darren Blakely homered for the second consecutive night to tie the game. The Warthogs scored three unearned runs in the top of the fifth. With runners on first and third, Casey Rogowski's ground ball to short was bobbled by Donnie Murphy. The error allowed Andy Gonzalez to score from third. Brian Anderson followed with a two-out, two-run double, scoring two more runs.
The Blue Rocks trailed, 4-1, and scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth on a walk and three consecutive singles. Darren Blakely had two hits for the Warthogs, while Anderson finished with two RBIs. Tim Frend and Damaso Espino had two hits a piece for the Blue Rocks.
The Warthogs continue their six game road trip with the first of three at Frederick Monday night. First pitch is set for 7:05pm. RHP Jose Mieses (0-3, 5.06) will toss for Winston Salem.
