Neal Added To Carolina League All-Star Team

The Frederick Keys announced today that RHP TONY NEAL has been named to the Carolina League All-Star Team that will play the California League All-Star Team in San Bernardino, Calif., on Tuesday, June 29. Neal replaces LHP RICHARD STAHL, who was named to the all-star team earlier this week but is unable to play due to injury.

Neal, who is 2-2 with a 3.95 ERA in 16 relief outings this year, leads all relievers on the Keys with his two wins. He has allowed opposing batters to hit just .176 this year, which is the second best mark among all Frederick pitchers.

The 23-year-old Neal was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles out of the University of South Alabama in the 20th round of the 2003 First Year Player Draft. Neal spent the entire 2003 season with the Aberdeen Ironbirds of the New York-Penn League, where he posted a 2-1 record, a 1.94 ERA and 43 strikeouts in 19 relief outings (41.2 IP).

This year's Carolina League-California League All-Star Game will be played at Arrowhead Credit Union Park in San Bernardino, Calif., the home of the Inland Empire 66ers.

In 2005, this showcase event that features the best players of these two Advanced-A leagues will come to Harry Grove Stadium, home of the Frederick Keys. The game will be played on Tuesday, June 28, 2005.
