Winston-Salem Dash News Release
Winston-Salem, NC â The Winston-Salem Warthogs announced Wednesday they have agreed to terms with TW Garner Food Company/Texas Pete to raise money for Brenner Children's Hospital. TW Garner Food Company has agreed to match, dollar for dollar, every donation fans make at Ernie Shore Field this season, up to $5,000. The proceeds will benefit Brenner Children's Hospital in Winston-Salem. The idea stems from two community-minded organizations trying to increase local support and raise awareness for Brenner Children's Hospital.
A billboard with a running total of donations will be placed on the outfield wall and on the line-up board at the Guest Relations desk. TW Garner Food Company will sponsor numerous public service announcements made over the PA system encouraging fans to be a part of making a difference in the community. Each time a fan makes a donation of $50 or more they will be entered into a drawing for a trip for two to a Chicago White Sox game at US Cellular Field in Chicago. "This is a great opportunity for our fans to help give back to the community. Sometimes we each have to sit down and think about what we can do to help out," said Vincent Pannutti, Account Executive, Warthogs. A video from TW Garner Food Company will also be placed on the video board to inspire fans to contribute to such a great cause. "All of us at TW Garner Food Company are excited to be part of such a wonderful service to the children of Winston-Salem and its surrounding communities. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve," said Reg Garner, President of TW Garner Food Company.
Brenner Children's Hospital was founded in 1986. It is the only children's hospital in northwest North Carolina. Brenner Children's Hospital is part of Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Brenner Children's Hospital treats children from western North Carolina, as well as parts of Virginia, South Carolina, and Tennessee. Over 4,500 children are admitted to Brenner Children's Hospital each year. In addition, more than 21,000 pediatric subspecialty visits occur annually at the hospital-based outpatient clinics.
"We are delighted that the Warthogs and TW Garner Food Company/Texas Pete have chosen to help Brenner Children's Hospital in this way," said Jon S. Abramson, M.D., physician-in-chief of Brenner Children's Hospital. "It's a wonderful avenue for children in this region to help other children, while enjoying a family-oriented, sporting event at the ballpark."
The Warthogs open their season April 9th at Kinston.
