Santa Cruz Warriors News Release

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The Santa Cruz Warriors today unveiled "Get Fit" presented by Kaiser Permanente, a year-round community platform focusing on fitness, wellness, and nutrition education to build a healthier community. The Warriors will host several events at Central Coast schools, community gathering places, and at Kaiser Permanente Arena during the inaugural year of the team's Get Fit community program.

With the program tip-off on October 19, the Warriors aim to partner with Kaiser Permanente to impact over 10,000 Central Coast youth in the next year, hosting events in Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties. Warriors players, along with members of the Warriors coaching staff, will join members of the team's front office, partners and media personalities to participate in events.

"Since the Warriors relocated to Santa Cruz in 2012, our players, coaches and staff have been very active in the community," said Warriors President Chris Murphy. "This year we are thrilled to partner with Kaiser Permanente to launch a health and wellness platform that will directly impact youth and families all over the Central Coast. We look forward to having our entire organization work side by side with Kaiser Permanente to build a healthier community."

"Part of Kaiser Permanente's mission is to improve the health of the communities we serve," said Irene Chavez, senior vice president and area manager. "Kaiser Permanente has a long history of working with local schools, nonprofits, community partners and the health care safety net to identify community needs and we look forward to continuing to build strong partnerships with the local community."
