BOWIE, Md. - Baysox first baseman Brandon Waring has been named Eastern League Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, June 2. Waring wins the award for the first time and is the first Baysox player to win the award since Manny Machado won it for the week ending Aug. 5, 2012.
Waring hit .417 (10-24) for the week with a double, five home runs, 10 RBI and seven runs scored. In 33 games this season after missing a month with an oblique injury, Waring is batting .198 with three doubles, eight home runs and 19 runs batted in. He is currently the Baysox career home runs (63) leader and leads catcher Caleb Joseph by three for the career RBI mark (184).
