Columbus Wardogs News Release
Columbus, GA - The Columbus Wardogs arena football team announced it will host an international preseason game on Sunday, March 28 versus Australia. Kickoff will be at 3:00pm ET at the Columbus Civic Center.
The Australian team will include players from Sydney and Melbourne. The squad will also include a few players from New Zealand. The game in Columbus will mark Australia's second visit to the United States. Last year, the Aussies played a preseason game against the af2 Quad City Steamwheelers in Moline, IL.
In addition to the players and coaches, top officials from the country's football association and selected members of the Australian media are expected to make the 9,700-mile journey to Columbus. The group plans to visit several of the area's top attractions during their one-week stay.
Columbus is one of only two U.S. cities that will host an international arena football game this year. The other international affair is slated for Sunday, March 21 in Louisville, KY when the af2 Louisville Fire hosts Japan.
Tickets for the international game versus Australia will go on sale Monday, March 1 and will be available at the Columbus Civic Center box office and all Ticketmaster outlets. Fans can also purchase tickets by logging on to ticketmaster.com or by calling (706) 494-8330. All reserved seats will be $10.
