Manchester Wolves News Release

MANCHESTER, N.H. (January 13, 2004) – The arenafootball2 league office announced today that local standouts Jacques "Jack" Philistin and John Paul have been assigned to the Manchester Wolves. Both athletes enjoyed stellar high school careers at Manchester Central before going on to star in college. Philistin and Paul become the fifth and sixth players assigned to the Wolves for their inaugural 2004 season in the granite state.

"Jack and John are proof that there are a lot of good football players in this area," Wolves Head Coach Rik Richards said. "They have the chance to do some really great things for us. I also think playing in front of their family and friends every other week will help motivate them as well."

Philistin, a 6-3, 310-pound rookie from Norfolk State (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference), is expected to challenge for a starting spot with the Wolves in 2004 as an offensive/defensive lineman. Philistin earned Division I-AA All-American honors as a senior in 2002 after recording 28 total tackles and 4.5 tackles for loss. He was also a three-year starter with the Spartans from 2000-02.

Paul had similar success at the collegiate level playing for the University of New Hampshire. The 6-0, 230-pound linebacker played in 30 games over his four-year career with the Wildcats, registering 143 total tackles. As a senior in 2001, Paul recorded a team-leading 12 tackles for loss. The Manchester native began last season (2003) in the af2 with the Rochester Brigade before getting injured.

Both players were also instrumental in leading Manchester Central High to a state championship in 1995.
