Columbus Wardogs News Release
Columbus, GA - The Columbus Wardogs arenafootball2 team has announced its 21-man roster as training camp comes to an end. The current roster includes seven returning Wardogs along with several league veterans and a handful of rookies. Head coach John Fourcade and his staff based their decisions from two weeks of training camp, a scrimmage game last week in Hunstville, and Sunday's preseason game against Team Down Under from Australia.
"We are very strong at certain positions and it was difficult to release some very good players," said Fourcade. "But we are not done evaluating and you can expect a few more roster changes before opening night."
Quarterback Chris Windsor suffered a shoulder injury late in the 80-0 win over Team Down Under and will be placed on short term injured reserve. A few other players that expect to sign with the Wardogs have yet to arrive in town due to their jobs, including a kicker.
"These 21 players are still not safe," cautions Fourcade. "They still have to prove to me they deserve to be with us when we kick off the season in ten days."
Columbus begins the season on April 10 at Wilkes-Barre, PA. The home opener is scheduled for Saturday, April 17 at 7:30pm against Cape Fear. Season tickets may be obtained by calling (706) 653-7789 or logging on to columbuswardogs.com. Individual game tickets can be purchased at the Columbus Civic Center box office, by logging on to ticketmaster.com, or by calling (706) 494-8330.
