Last Friday, fans at the ballpark for Southern Maryland Reading Night received Cheerstix complements of Besche Oil. The Baysox finished up their homestand last night vs. the Akron Aeros, and left this morning for a 12-game road trip. The team and fans will return to the ballpark on May 27th for lots of fun promotions like the Senior Health Fair, Singles Night, Prince Goerge's County Reading Night and the Baysox Tribute to the Negro Leagues! BAYSOX TO HOST FIFTH ANNUAL BOWIE RELAY FOR LIFE
Event to Raise Money for American Cancer Society this Weekend
The Baysox are proud to host the Fifth Annual Bowie Relay for Life this weekend at Prince George's Stadium. The event will kick off at 7:00 p.m. on Friday and conclude at 7:00 a.m. Saturday. More than 45 teams of citizens will take turns walking around the warning track throughout the night to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Teams can register to participate on the day of the event, and space is STILL AVAILABLE for anyone who wishes to camp out on the baseball field of Prince George's Stadium for a $100 donation. FIRST EVER BAYSOX GOLF TOURNAMENT SET FOR JUNE 2ND
Foursomes Still Available!
The Baysox have made plans for their First Annual Charity Golf Tournament! The tournament, with proceeds benefiting the Steve Bechler Memorial Account, will be held June 2nd at Renditions Golf Course in Davidsonville. A VERY limited number of foursomes are still available for $600 and includes greens fees, range balls, unlimited beer and snacks during the round and a West Texas BBQ following golf. BAYSOX SWAP SHUTOUTS, RAINES AMONG LEAGUE LEADERS IN SEVERAL CATEGORIES
The Baysox and Akron Aeros exchanged shutout victories in the first two games of their three-game series this week. On Monday, Brian Forystek (pictured left) and three Bowie relievers combined th blank the Aeros, 3-0. Forystek, along with Dave Borkowski, John Parrish and Aaron Rakers held Akron to only two hits. Tim Raines, Jr. went 4-for-4 and is now batting .314, the 11th best mark in the Eastern League. His 17 stolen bases and 29 runs scored are tops in the league. The Aeros returned the favor on Tuesday night, shutting out the Baysox, 4-0, behind a complete-game shutout by Jeremy Guthrie. Bowie is now 17-18, three games behind division-leading Akron in the EL Southern Division.
The Baysox wrapped up their six-game homestand on Wednesday night with a 13-3 loss and hit the road for a season-high, 12-game road trip to Trenton, Portland and New Britain. However, the Baysox return home on May 27 to an action-packed promotional schedule. May 28 is a Senior Health Fair and Seat Cushion Giveaway with a special 11:05 a.m. start time. On May 31, the Baysox will host a Tribute to the Negro Leagues, with the first 1,500 fans receiving a Negro Leagues Baseball Cap.
