Walmer Martínez Earns TOTW Honors

SEASIDE, Calif. - Following Monterey Bay's 3-2 come-from-behind victory over Las Vegas Lights FC at Cardinale Stadium over the weekend, defender Walmer Martínez has been named to USL Championship's Team of the Week for Week 28 of the 2023 regular season. Martínez, 25, earned top-11 honors for his performance on the left side of the back line for Monterey Bay in the club's fourth consecutive win, and fifth match unbeaten.

After the team fell behind 2-0 in the first half, the local Santa Cruz native sparked a comeback with two pin-point assists - his first two assists for the Club - to level the match at 2-2 and pave the way for the Union to go on and win the game with a third goal later in the match. Martínez added two clearances, successfully completed all three of his crosses, and created four total chances in the match, ultimately leading to the largest comeback win in Club history to date.
