GREENEVILLE, Tenn. - Finnegan Wall (UC Irvine) turned in his longest outing of the season, earning his first win (1-2) of the year going seven innings, allowing two hits, and striking out ten batters as the Greeneville Flyboys knocked off the Bristol State Liners 1-0 on Sunday, July 24.

The lone run of the contest came in the bottom of the first, as a Brock Daniels (Missouri) RBI-single scored Maddox Mihalakis (Arizona) to give Greeneville (24-22) a 1-0 lead.

Bristol (12-32) recorded their first hit of the day in the top of the second inning, a Daniel Hicks (Rhodes College) single, but a Wall strikeout ended the frame.

The Flyboys had runners at first and third in the bottom of the third inning, but Tahir Muelens (Ivy Tech CC) gunned out Canyon Brown (NC A&T) trying to steal home and keep it a one-run game.

Back-to-back singles in the bottom of the fifth by Brown and Cian Sahler (Fordham) gave Greeneville another chance, but Peyton Jula (Austin Peay) recorded a strikeout to end the threat.

Bristol earned just their second hit of the game in the top of the sixth inning, a one-out single by Blake Wood (FSC at Jacksonville), but Brown gunned out Wood trying to steal second base.

Wall recorded his season-high tenth strikeout of the game to close out the contest in the top of the seventh and give the Flyboys their third straight win.

Jula (0-1) was handed the loss, going five innings, giving up one run off four hits, walking two and striking out six. Trey Valka III (Houston Baptist) went one inning in relief for the Flyboys.

Brock Daniels, Cameron LaLiberte, Jack Liberio Jr., and Riley Taylor will now head to the Appy League All-Star Game in Burlington, N.C. on Tuesday, July 26. First pitch is set for 7:00 PM. The game will be streamed live on MLB.com. Fans can find tickets and more information at appyleague.com.
